Using with Arena


Launch Arena

Open the Engines menu, and choose Install new engine

Install

Select Cheese executable in the directory where it was installed

Install

Confirm the launch of cheese

Install

To configure Cheese, Choose the Configure option in the menu Engines

Install

Remarq : UCI version doesn't use the file Cheese.ini

Using with Xboard / Winboard


Launch Xboard and use "Load First Engine" in the "Engine" menu to add a new engine.

Menu

Select Cheese executable in the directory where it was installed

Install

To configure Cheese, edit the file cheese.ini :

Hash
Size of the Hash table in Mb (minimum 4 Mb, maximum 4096 Mb)
Book
0 = no opening book
1 = use the opening book
BookFile
Path and name of the opening book (Cheese use his own file format)
UseStrength
0 = By default, use maximum strength of the engine
1 = Reduce the strength of the engine in ELO with StrengthELO parameter
StrengthELO
Reduce the strenght of the engine from 1000 to 2600 ELO if UseStrength = 1

same as perft but with number of captures, en passant, promotions, castle, checks, and mates
-divide depth
search number of nodes for each possible moves from the current position, to the selected depth
-divide depth -fen "position"
search number of nodes for each possible moves from the selected FEN position, to the selected depth
-buildbook file.pgn file.bin depth number
Create a new opening book from a PGN file.
the depth is the maximum number of moves in the opening, number is the minimum number of moves for the opening to be used.
